Case description

For the Zemlya restaurant in Moscow, Russia, all furniture—spanning the open seating area, enclosed booths, casual bar counter, and private dining zones—was fully custom-manufactured and supplied by our factory.

The project’s design theme centers on the raw, primal nature of the earth; consequently, the space features extensive use of walls with coarse, rugged textures and natural, exposed hardscaping materials. The client faced a unique set of implementation challenges: commercially available mass-produced furniture typically possesses surfaces that are too refined and smooth, failing to align with the space’s overall rustic and rugged aesthetic. Furthermore, the interior layout contained numerous walls with irregular angles and unconventional corners, making it impossible to position standard-sized furniture flush against the spatial boundaries. Given that daily restaurant operations inevitably generate moisture and food stains, ordinary wooden furniture would be susceptible to moisture absorption and deformation. Additionally, replicating the specific textures of raw, natural materials consistently proved difficult; controlling for textural and color variations during cross-border delivery presented a significant challenge, while a haphazard approach to soft furnishings would risk disrupting the space’s calm, tranquil, and natural atmosphere.

To address these multifaceted issues, we formulated a bespoke, integrated custom procurement plan centered on the project’s core “primal earth” design ethos. We conducted precise site surveys to map the space’s irregular structural geometries, thereby optimizing the shape and dimensions of the furniture for a perfect fit. We selected high-density, stable solid wood materials and crafted matte, distressed finishes to harmonize with the texture of the hardscaping. We subjected the furniture to rigorous testing to ensure resistance to moisture, water damage, and staining, as well as structural stability and durability. We minimized superfluous decorative lines to maintain a minimalist aesthetic while simultaneously prioritizing ergonomic comfort for daily dining. Finally, we seamlessly managed the entire process—from raw material sourcing and manufacturing to cross-border shipping and precise on-site installation—ensuring that the furniture blended harmoniously with the rugged walls and the surrounding natural greenery.

Upon the completion of the furniture installation, the space’s intended atmosphere—one of calm, rustic, and primal nature—was fully realized. The furniture fit the venue’s irregular layout perfectly, facilitating a smooth and logical flow of movement. The moisture-resistant and durable material properties are ideally suited for the restaurant’s long-term commercial operations, while daily cleaning and maintenance remain simple and convenient. The client expressed immense satisfaction with our custom procurement services, acknowledging our precise execution of the space’s “natural-rugged” design core.
