Case description
Situated within a mere 20 square meters of highly optimized space, this cozy milk tea shop features dining furniture—spanning its entire main area—that was custom-manufactured by our factory.
The project’s context lay in the extreme tension inherent to micro-spaces: the conflict between functional zoning and the constraints of customer flow. The challenge was to navigate a cramped area of less than 20 square meters—one that required accommodating high-density tea-making equipment—while simultaneously avoiding the visual clutter and claustrophobia often caused by furniture placement. Furthermore, we had to address a specific issue associated with the shop’s Japanese-style aesthetic: the susceptibility of light-colored natural wood to mold growth and premature aging when exposed to frequent spills and the deep penetration of milk and tea stains.
To resolve these issues, we developed a “spatial folding” visual algorithm and an advanced hydrophobic wood-reinforcement technology. Through the design of ultra-narrow profiles for tables and chairs—integrated with concealed storage structures—we maximized the visual openness of the floor area. Additionally, we treated the wood fibers with an eco-friendly polymer sealant; this treatment successfully passed rigorous testing—including simulated hot tea spills, prolonged storage in high-humidity environments, and a continuous abrasion test of over 1,000 cycles—ensuring that under warm lighting, the furniture consistently retains its original, delicate texture while remaining completely impervious to liquids.
The final results were remarkable. This bespoke furniture system, guided by a philosophy of elegant simplicity, perfectly underpins the shop’s cozy atmosphere. It not only visually expanded the limited space by 30% but also garnered high acclaim for its minimalist lines and exceptional durability, allowing every customer who steps inside to experience the tranquility and comfort of an authentic Japanese lifestyle amidst the interplay of warm light and shadow.
