Case description
For the Martha Kaka restaurant in Thailand—a venue distinguished by its Southeast Asian-inspired aesthetic—all dining furniture within the main dining areas was custom-manufactured and supplied by our factory.
The project’s core challenge lay in addressing the specific issues inherent to high-humidity, semi-open spaces typical of the region. We needed to mitigate the risks of mold growth, insect infestation, and structural degradation—specifically the softening of materials caused by prolonged moisture exposure—that often plague natural woven fibers and solid wood structures in Southeast Asia’s volatile climate. Concurrently, we had to overcome the tendency of richly colored Southeast Asian textiles to fade and suffer fiber embrittlement when exposed to intense ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
To meet these challenges, we implemented a comprehensive system featuring bio-based moisture-resistant modifications and spectral stabilization defenses. During the raw material stage of the custom furniture production, we introduced a vacuum-pressure impregnation process for wood preservation. Furthermore, we jointly developed a transparent protective coating capable of absorbing specific UV wavelengths. These solutions underwent rigorous testing—including cyclic high-humidity mold resistance trials, simulated intense sunlight aging tests, and material resilience assessments under heavy structural loads—to ensure that the finished products retained their authentic, natural textures while demonstrating exceptional weather resistance.
The results were highly successful. This bespoke furniture collection not only perfectly complemented the restaurant’s exotic color palette and aesthetic vision but also significantly extended the furniture’s service life through its superior structural stability. The client praised this comprehensive solution for effectively preserving the rustic, natural charm of Southeast Asian design while completely eliminating the maintenance difficulties typically encountered during daily operations, thereby creating a dining environment that offers guests a lasting, “ever-new” resort-style experience.
