Case description

For this Chiang Mai-style Thai restaurant situated within a shopping mall, the primary furnishings throughout the space were custom-manufactured and supplied by our factory.

The project’s context was defined by a site that was exceptionally long and deep—a configuration prone to creating a stifling sense of enclosure within the interior. The client urgently sought to mitigate the visual fatigue associated with such extended circulation paths, while simultaneously demanding the integration of space-intensive “Thai street” elements—such as outdoor-style rocking chairs and booth seating—without compromising the mall’s floor-area efficiency. Furthermore, the project faced a specific conflict: the incompatibility between traditional bamboo weaving techniques and the stringent fire safety codes mandated by modern shopping malls.

To address these challenges, we implemented a solution that combined spatial elasticity algorithms with flame-retardant fiber technology. We achieved this by structurally compacting traditional Thai rocking chairs and developing a nanoscale flame-retardant protective coating designed to precisely match the natural coloration of the woven bamboo canopy. This approach ensured that the material textures retained the authentic feel of handcrafted originals, while simultaneously passing the mall’s rigorous tests for smoke toxicity and vertical flammability ratings. Consequently, all custom-shaped furnishings could be arranged with maximum flexibility within the narrow space while remaining fully compliant with safety standards.

The final outcome was highly successful. This bespoke furniture system, with its vivid visual impact, effectively transcended the physical constraints of the shopping mall environment. It not only enhanced the customer experience through the distinctive design of its booth seating but also garnered high acclaim from the brand for its precise and authentic recreation of the soul of Chiang Mai’s street culture—allowing every diner within the bustling shopping center to enjoy a dining atmosphere as free-spirited and vibrant as that of a traditional Thai market.
