Case description

Our factory custom-manufactured and supplied all the dining furniture for the main areas of this large-scale, mixed-use bookstore complex located in Bangkok.

The client’s primary challenge lay in managing the extremely sensitive preservation environment required for paper books within a space that seamlessly integrates a bookstore with dining facilities. Specifically, airborne lipid aerosols from the coffee and light-fare zones—along with the frequent condensation dripping from cold beverage cups—posed a significant risk; through aerodynamic diffusion, these elements could easily cause irreversible fiber contamination to the rare volumes housed in adjacent areas. Furthermore, while striving to cultivate an atmosphere of absolute tranquility for reading, the furniture itself presented a potential issue: structural creaks and floor-friction noises generated during frequent repositioning could become major sources of acoustic disturbance within the space.

To address these issues, we implemented a dual solution featuring oleophobic and hydrophobic molecular barriers alongside an adaptive dynamic-balancing damping system. We integrated a specialized nanocomposite layer—capable of adsorbing and decomposing lipid molecules—into the surface finishes of all dining tables. Additionally, we developed micro-nanoscale elastic mounts for the furniture legs, engineered to possess sound-wave-canceling properties. These solutions underwent rigorous testing—spanning thousands of hours—to verify their efficacy in suppressing lipid diffusion and reducing dynamic friction noise (measured in decibels), thereby ensuring a harmonious balance of air quality and acoustics between the dining and reading zones, all without the need for physical partitions.

Since the project’s completion and the commencement of operations, this custom furniture system—perfectly attuned to the literary ambiance of the venue—has proven its worth. Beyond safeguarding the library’s paper-based assets through its exceptional self-cleaning capabilities, the furniture has leveraged its superior acoustic control to cultivate a truly immersive reading environment for patrons. The client has lauded this solution for successfully dissolving the traditional boundaries between dining and literature, achieving a flawless synthesis of functional utility and cultural preservation.
