Case description

Our factory provided a comprehensive, bespoke furniture solution for Orvay Bar, covering the curved booth seating area, the central marble bar counter, the tiered lounge seating section, and the artistic private rooms located at the rear. Our key deliverables included curved benches in shades of pink and blue, minimalist geometric dining chairs, marble-finished tables, and integrated upholstered units. By seamlessly integrating blocks of saturated color with minimalist architectural geometry, we achieved a perfect balance between striking visual impact and practical social functionality within this space—a setting conceived as a work of art installation by the collaborative duo of Isern Serra and Sylvain Carlet.

The core challenge inherent in this project’s context lay in navigating an extremely constrained, elongated floor plan while ensuring that the furniture precisely anchored the spatial narrative’s color palette—all while meeting rigorous stain-resistance requirements necessitated by high-frequency cleaning protocols. The client’s primary pain point stemmed from the design concept itself: the space utilizes three intense colors—pink, blue, and green—to delineate distinct atmospheric zones corresponding to different wine regions. As the central medium for conveying this color narrative, the furniture demanded absolute precision; even the slightest discrepancy in surface sheen or color tone across different materials would risk undermining the entire spatial zoning logic. Furthermore, as a high-turnover bar venue, the vibrant fabrics were highly susceptible to permanent staining from spills of dark liquids such as red wine and coffee. Conventional commercial-grade fabrics often struggle to balance high color fidelity with adequate stain resistance and breathability; consequently, the owner was concerned that the furniture would suffer from rapid visual deterioration after only a short period of operation, thereby losing its original avant-garde aesthetic.

To address these challenges, our factory implemented a dual strategy involving digital color-matching across disparate materials and a molecular-level fabric protection system. To ensure absolute color fidelity, we established a comprehensive 3D color model library, subjecting all fabrics, paints, and stone materials to full-spectrum calibration. This process guaranteed that the pink, blue, and green hues would exhibit perfectly consistent saturation levels under the venue’s cool-tone LED lighting environment—a consistency that was subsequently validated through simulated accelerated aging and fade-resistance testing. Regarding material protection, we introduced a fluorocarbon molecular chain polymerization technology to provide a deep-penetrating treatment for the high-chroma fabrics. This process creates an invisible protective barrier on the fiber surfaces; rigorous testing—including simulated red wine immersion and repeated scrubbing with industrial-strength cleaning agents—confirmed that liquid spills could be effortlessly wiped away before having the opportunity to penetrate the fabric fibers. To adapt to the narrow, elongated geometry of the space, we developed a modular, seamless-splicing base system. This innovation allows the curved banquettes—spanning several meters in length—to visually appear as if they organically emerge from the walls, thereby eliminating the visible seams typical of standard assembled furniture.

The project outcome demonstrates that the custom furniture successfully serves as the space’s most expressive visual language; its pure geometric silhouettes and bold blocks of color create a highly dynamic contrast against the original arches of the historic building. The client remarked: “Through the precise application of color science and a breakthrough in material performance limits, the manufacturer delivered not only a visually stunning furniture collection but also—via a forward-thinking stain-resistant treatment—successfully resolved the greatest operational risk associated with using colored furniture in the dining industry.”
