Case Description
The office furniture located within the OCT Tower workspace of the OCT South China Group was supplied by our factory.
We provided the Group with a comprehensive, custom-tailored office furniture solution encompassing scenic executive offices, relaxed collaborative lounges for employees, open-plan digital workstations, and an art-infused reception lobby. Key products included executive desks featuring the tactile warmth of natural solid wood, acoustic partitions with woven textile textures, modular and flexible sectional sofas, and minimalist ergonomic chairs offering superior lumbar support. By deeply integrating OCT’s rich heritage in art-centric real estate development with the relaxed aesthetics of modern urban workspaces, we successfully achieved a harmonious balance between the professional logic of a benchmark real estate enterprise and a spirit of natural humanism—all within a space characterized by striking architectural dynamism.
A primary challenge inherent in this project’s context lay in how to mitigate the sense of urgency often associated with high-pressure decision-making in the real estate development sector, particularly within the rigid structural framework of a Grade A+ office building. Furthermore, we needed to address the acoustic reverberation and uneven light and heat distribution issues caused by the building’s extensive glass curtain walls. The client’s specific pain points stemmed from the South China Group’s status as an industry benchmark: while demanding furniture that exuded the premium quality expected of top-tier corporate environments, they also harbored a strong desire to cultivate a serene, stress-relieving atmosphere—akin to a tranquil garden—to stimulate creative inspiration. Traditional office furniture often proves too drab or overly industrial, failing to simultaneously achieve artistic spatial expression and provide psychological comfort to employees working under high-intensity conditions. Moreover, within such a highly transparent workspace, we were tasked with concealing a multitude of office cables and wiring to maintain a minimalist aesthetic and visual purity.
To address these challenges, our factory implemented a design strategy focused on “acoustic landscaping” and the development of materials featuring diffuse light reflection properties. To resolve the issue of acoustic reverberation, we developed a system of uniquely shaped sound-absorbing partitions designed to mimic the undulating contours of natural terrain. By utilizing eco-friendly fiber materials with specific porosity levels, these partitions effectively disrupted the linear propagation of sound waves. The system successfully passed simulated tests for speech intelligibility decay in open-plan environments, thereby creating intimate acoustic micro-environments within the open office areas. Regarding the creation of the desired atmosphere, we introduced diffuse-reflection coating technologies and micro-crystalline matte finishes. These innovations effectively absorbed excessive glare from the curtain-wall areas, allowing the furniture surfaces to exhibit a soft, velvety texture under natural light. To facilitate functional integration, we designed a bespoke, biomimetic cable management system concealed within the furniture’s internal framework. This system successfully passed rigorous high-frequency dynamic fatigue testing, ensuring efficient digital connectivity without compromising the aesthetic of effortless relaxation.
The project’s outcome demonstrates that the custom furniture successfully serves as a flexible conduit, bridging the architectural vocabulary of the space with the emotional experience of its occupants. Its elegant color palette and natural materials perfectly complement and accentuate the genius loci—the spirit of place—of the OCT Tower. The client praised the project team for their profound application of spatial psychology and meticulous refinement of materials and craftsmanship, noting that they delivered an office system imbued with a unique sense of vitality and breathability. This design not only effectively resolved the acoustic and visual disturbances inherent to glass-centric architecture but, through a design philosophy centered on ultimate relaxation, transformed the workspace into an artistic professional environment capable of soothing the senses and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. The primary spaces encompass a panoramic “Cloudscape” office zone, an artistic collaboration corridor, an immersive inspiration salon, and a digital brand showcase area.
