Our factory supplied all the furniture for the various research offices, academic discussion areas, administrative zones, and ancillary spaces at the Westlake Institute for Advanced Study.

As a research and educational institution centered on fundamental and frontier research—characterized by its high standards, comprehensive scope, and “small but elite” ethos—the Westlake Institute for Advanced Study is dedicated to exploring models that align with world-class research institutions. Its office spaces encompass a diverse range of settings, including independent laboratories, academic discussion areas, and administrative offices. The core challenge lay in the exceptionally high demands that scientific research environments place on furniture regarding professionalism, functionality, and adaptability. Traditional off-the-shelf furniture proved inadequate for accommodating the unique specificities of a research environment; ill-fitting dimensions could compromise space utilization, while substandard materials might fail to meet the rigorous requirements of a laboratory setting—making it difficult to satisfy the high-standard operational needs of such a research institution.
