Case description

For this private residence situated within the Lustro community in Irvine, California, our factory custom-manufactured and supplied the entire suite of furnishings—including furniture, lighting fixtures, mattresses, rugs, artworks, and decorative accents.

The client’s primary challenge stemmed from the home’s avant-garde, open-plan minimalist interior layout. Lacking traditional soft partitions, the space suffered from ambiguous functional zoning and severe acoustic scattering issues. Furthermore, due to the high reflectivity of the community’s building facades, intense focal points of light would converge within the interior during specific times of the day; this not only risked causing localized sun damage to artworks and textiles but also frequently induced visual fatigue in the residents. Standard decorative furnishings were utterly incapable of resolving this dual conflict—addressing both the lack of spatial logic and the disruptive light physics.

To address these issues, we developed a “Modular Gravitational Clustering System” alongside a “Nanoscale Light-Scattering Fabric Technology.” By embedding invisible magnetic interlocking mechanisms within the furniture modules, we achieved psychological spatial zoning and reorganized circulation paths without the need for rigid partitions. Additionally, in collaboration with our laboratory, we developed specialized artistic coatings and light-blocking rugs featuring an “automatic refractive index neutralization” function. These materials successfully passed rigorous high-intensity laser speckle distribution tests, ensuring that the interior lighting and shadows remained soft and uniform while preserving the space’s sense of openness and transparency.

Following the successful completion and handover of the project, this highly integrated custom system accomplished two key objectives: it imbued the minimalist space with a profound sense of residential order through a logically coherent layout, and it created an immersive, gentle optical ambiance throughout the entire home via advanced material science. The client praised the design for transforming a cold, modern architectural shell into an intimate private art gallery—a space brimming with emotional depth and technological thoughtfulness—where every single detail precisely embodies the Lustro community’s philosophy of pursuing a life of ultimate purity.
