Case description
We provided a comprehensive custom furniture solution for Morokok Restaurant in Hong Kong, with our factory deeply involved in the research, development, and production of furniture for the entire venue—spanning everything from the indoor arcades to the open-air garden. Through the geometric reinterpretation of Moroccan arch motifs and the aesthetic of a Thai resort getaway, we successfully crafted a sophisticated urban oasis right in the heart of Mong Kok.
Located within a high-density commercial complex, the project presented two core challenges: achieving visual harmony amidst a blend of diverse styles, and mitigating furniture wear and tear resulting from an extremely high table turnover rate. The client’s specific pain points were as follows: the space required a seamless integration of Moroccan tiles, lush Thai vegetation, and modern arched structures—a context in which conventional furniture designs would easily lead to visual clutter. Furthermore, as a popular social landmark, the venue experiences heavy foot traffic; consequently, standard rattan or solid wood seating would be highly susceptible to structural loosening or surface abrasion during frequent repositioning and cleaning. This necessitated a furniture solution that offered both the airy lightness of a resort aesthetic and the robust durability of industrial-grade construction.
Our factory implemented a strategy centered on structural reinforcement using composite materials combined with a design approach focused on visual lightness. To meet the specific stylistic requirements, we extensively utilized metal internal frames integrated with traditional natural rattan weaving techniques; this approach leverages high-strength metal skeletons to ensure structural stability while encasing them in a fine wood-grain finish to preserve a natural tactile quality. For the bar and dining areas, we custom-fabricated embedded, abrasion-resistant terrazzo dining tables, treated with an anti-permeation nano-coating to effectively withstand the acidic exposure typical of a dining environment. Aligning with the circulation flow of the arcades depicted in the design visuals, our factory precisely calculated the curvature to produce streamlined, semi-enclosed booth seating that fits seamlessly against the walls, thereby significantly optimizing floor-space efficiency.
The Morokok operations team provided the following feedback: the custom-fabricated furniture perfectly resolved the inherent conflict between aesthetic appeal and commercial durability; in particular, the bar stools and rattan chair series have remained as sturdy and pristine as new, even under conditions of high-frequency usage. The furniture’s low-saturation color palette harmonizes exquisitely with the interior’s mint-green and red-brick accents, establishing itself as a highly distinctive visual signature within the space. The owner’s verdict: through the rational refinement of materials and construction, we have successfully delivered a dining and social venue that is capable of withstanding immense commercial operational pressures while simultaneously exuding an atmosphere of exotic, poetic charm.
