Case description
For this private residence situated in the Dolomiti community of Newport Beach, California, our factory custom-manufactured and supplied the entire suite of furnishings—including furniture, lighting fixtures, mattresses, rugs, artwork, and decorative accessories.
The homeowner’s primary challenge lay in the fact that, while this premier coastal residence boasts breathtaking panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, the accompanying harsh environment—characterized by corrosive salt mist and relentless direct sunlight—poses a severe threat to interior furnishings. Furthermore, due to the home’s open-plan design, which facilitates natural sea-breeze circulation, furniture surfaces are prone to accumulating fine salt particles; this leads to dulled finishes and causes mechanical components—such as drawers and hinges—to become stiff and difficult to operate. Consequently, standard luxury furnishings often rapidly lose their aesthetic appeal and structural integrity due to insufficient weather resistance.
To address these issues, we implemented a marine-grade anti-corrosion encapsulation process alongside advanced anti-static dust-repellent technology. We subjected all wooden and metal components to vacuum-sealed, molecular-level protective treatments. Additionally, in collaboration with our materials research laboratory, we developed a specialized oleophobic fabric capable of reflecting 98% of infrared radiation. Every custom mattress and piece of upholstered furniture underwent rigorous accelerated aging tests—spanning thousands of hours—within high-salinity, high-humidity environments to ensure maximum durability in extreme conditions, all while preserving the natural tactile quality of the materials.
Upon the project’s completion, this interior scheme—distinguished by its hypoallergenic properties and profound sense of maritime artistry—not only successfully safeguarded the home’s exquisite furnishings against the physical wear and tear of the coastal climate but also achieved a profound symbiosis between the natural landscape and the art of living. Through its warm, enduring color palette, set against the backdrop of the shimmering ocean, the design seamlessly integrated the natural environment with the residential space. The homeowner offered high praise for this custom system, noting that it not only withstood the rigors of the marine environment but, thanks to its exceptional ease of maintenance, allowed their coastal lifestyle to return to its most authentic state of relaxation and elegance.
