Case description
As a benchmark for century-old luxury heritage hotels, the Fairmont Hotel in Canada faced a unique set of renovation challenges during its spatial revitalization project. These included the spatial constraints inherent to historic architecture, the difficulty of faithfully recreating a classical British “light luxury” aesthetic, the rigorous durability standards required for high-end hospitality, the complexities of managing a cross-border supply chain for an overseas project, and the inability of off-the-shelf furniture to match the specific details of the hotel’s vintage carvings and sophisticated metalwork. Consequently, all movable furniture and fixed custom cabinetry—spanning the luxury guest rooms, suite living and reception areas, vintage-style dining halls and banquet rooms, and public leisure lounges—were meticulously custom-crafted, manufactured at the source by our own dedicated factory, and delivered directly to the project site.
Given that the project involved the renovation of a century-old historic building, the furniture required the precise replication of classical “light luxury” silhouettes and metal inlay techniques. This demanded a delicate balance between evoking a sense of luxury and meeting the rigorous durability requirements of high-traffic commercial hotel environments. Furthermore, the unique dimensions of the historic guest rooms presented significant challenges in adapting non-standard structural designs. Overseas projects also entail inherent risks such as potential transit damage during ocean shipping, complexities in remote installation and commissioning, and the need to meet the brand’s exacting standards for vintage craftsmanship—risks often exacerbated by the involvement of intermediaries, which can lead to inconsistencies in workmanship or scheduling delays.
Leveraging the comprehensive manufacturing capabilities of our own dedicated factory, we developed a bespoke renovation solution tailored to the project’s specific needs. Our factory maintained full control over every stage of production—from material selection and intricate carving to metal finishing and cladding—selecting high-density, wear-resistant commercial-grade substrates. Integrating the hotel’s vintage British aesthetic, we undertook the custom design and manufacturing of guest room bedding, luxury lounge sofas, storage cabinetry, and dining and banquet furniture—creating non-standard pieces through specialized tooling. This process allowed us to perfectly recreate the exquisite vintage textures and refined details of the original design concepts, while simultaneously optimizing the furniture’s ergonomics and structural durability for long-term use. Additionally, we developed specialized, shock-resistant packaging for cross-border transit, coordinated production schedules with on-site installation guidance, and—by eliminating intermediaries—ensured complete control over craftsmanship, quality, and project timelines from start to finish.
Upon the project’s successful completion and delivery, the full suite of factory-original furniture seamlessly integrated into every space—including guest rooms, executive suites, and vintage dining areas. The exquisite vintage craftsmanship and sophisticated textures faithfully restored the hotel’s century-old legacy of luxury, while the robust, durable construction met the long-term operational demands of a high-end hotel environment, ultimately enabling the project to successfully pass the brand’s rigorous final acceptance inspection. The hotel operator highly commends our factory’s capabilities in original equipment manufacturing (OEM) customization and our comprehensive cross-border service solutions, establishing a reliable benchmark for direct-from-factory partnerships in the global procurement and renovation of luxury vintage-style hotel furnishings.
