Case description
All dining furniture throughout the Fritz Hansen Lounge in Shanghai, China, was custom-manufactured and supplied by our factory.
The project involved the transformation of a historic Western-style villa into an artistic dining and wine bistro. The client’s primary challenge lay in seamlessly integrating the vintage architectural structure with a modern artistic design aesthetic. The multi-hued interior demanded rigorous precision regarding furniture color accuracy; furthermore, curved and irregularly shaped zones required custom-sized, non-standard furnishings. Additionally, the uneven flooring inherent to older buildings posed a risk of furniture instability, while the high-traffic commercial environment meant that colored fabrics were prone to fading and metal components to oxidation. The furniture also needed to strike a balance between artistic form and the structural load-bearing capacity and ease-of-cleaning requirements typical of commercial spaces—challenges that standard, off-the-shelf products simply could not address given the space’s unique artistic tone and complex architecture.
To address these issues, we implemented a comprehensive solution featuring precise color replication and structural adaptation for irregular shapes. Through professional color-card calibration and physical prototyping, we faithfully reproduced the high-saturation fabrics specified in the design. We engineered integrated steel base structures for the custom curved banquettes and irregularly shaped dining tables, while conducting floor-leveling adjustments and anti-wobble stability tests. We selected UV-resistant, fade-proof fabrics and applied anti-oxidative coatings to metal components; rigorous testing—covering abrasion resistance, stain resistance, and temperature tolerance—was conducted to guarantee commercial-grade durability. Concurrently, we refined the curvature and joinery of the furniture to harmonize artistic form with ergonomic functionality. We maintained strict oversight throughout the entire process—from custom manufacturing to on-site installation—ensuring that the furniture blended seamlessly with the villa’s sloping ceilings, arched doorways, and vibrant walls.
Upon the completion of the furniture installation, the space achieved a cohesive and unified artistic atmosphere. The colors remained vivid and fade-resistant, while the custom furniture in the irregularly shaped zones fit perfectly, offering stability and silent operation. Daily cleaning proved effortless, achieving a perfect equilibrium between artistic expression and commercial practicality. The client expressed profound satisfaction with our custom service, commending our ability to faithfully translate Jaime Hayon’s artistic design language. They praised our success in resolving the complex challenges associated with adapting to historic architecture, ensuring color longevity, and executing custom designs for irregular structures—ultimately realizing the perfect fusion of art and commerce through meticulous craftsmanship.
