Case description

Drawing upon the unique waterfront geography characteristic of peninsula architecture, we provided Foshan Peninsula Villa with a comprehensive soft furnishing solution encompassing custom furniture, lighting fixtures, mattresses, rugs, wall art, and decorative accessories.

The project site is surrounded by water on three sides, and the building’s facade features an exceptionally high proportion of curved glass. The client’s primary concerns centered on the sense of insecurity induced by the space’s “visual weightlessness,” as well as the fragmented and chaotic interplay of indoor light and shadow—resulting from the extensive refraction of natural light off the water’s surface—which hindered the creation of a warm, cohesive domestic atmosphere. Furthermore, the peninsula experiences consistently strong winds throughout the year; consequently, lightweight decorative objects on the upper-level terraces and near windows were prone to generating resonant vibrations or even shifting out of place. The homeowner urgently sought a soft furnishing design characterized by a sense of “gravitational weight” to stabilize the spatial aura and mitigate the adverse effects of the optical environment on residential comfort.

We implemented a strategy focused on “visual anchoring” and “diffuse-reflection optical balancing.” To address the sense of spatial weightlessness, we commissioned a series of substantial furniture pieces featuring solid-base designs. By strategically distributing the low-center-of-gravity mass of stone and dark-toned woodwork, we visually “anchored” the spatial weight downward, thereby establishing a psychological sense of stability and groundedness within the home. To counter the light refracted from the water’s surface, we sourced custom rugs featuring nano-microporous structures and upholstered fabrics with unique woven textures; these materials utilize their complex surface textures to absorb excess refracted light, transforming harsh, sharp shadows into soft, diffused indoor ambient lighting. To resolve the issue of wind-induced vibration, all terrace accessories and substantial indoor decorative objects were treated with an invisible damping-and-counterweight process, further secured by magnetic positioning mounts to ensure they remain perfectly still and stable, even under conditions of high wind pressure.

Testimonial from the Owner of Foshan Peninsula Villa: “This comprehensive turnkey solution has completely transformed the residential character of our home. What was once a peninsula structure that felt overly expansive—even somewhat stark and cold—now exudes a sense of grounded security and stately elegance, achieved through the carefully curated textures and proportions of the furniture. In particular, the subtle way the rugs and fabrics modulate the interplay of light and shadow ensures that the interior maintains an atmosphere of sophisticated tranquility at all times.” The owners believe that what we have delivered is not merely a collection of domestic amenities, but rather a comprehensive system—customized for this specific geographical setting—that offers both physical protection and psychological solace, achieving a perfect balance between the rugged grandeur of the peninsula landscape and the intimate tranquility of home life.
