Located in Miami, USA, the Letter From Nigeria restaurant features a layout comprising an open dining area, a sushi bar, solid wood dining booths, and minimalist freestanding seating zones. All restaurant furniture was custom-manufactured and supplied by our factory, overseeing the entire process from start to finish.

The project centers on creating a cross-cultural fusion dining space, with a design core rooted in nail-free, mortise-and-tenon solid wood structures. While aiming to blend diverse regional artistic sensibilities, the client faced significant practical challenges during implementation. Most mass-produced furniture on the market relies on metal hardware for assembly—failing to authentically replicate the tactile quality of traditional mortise-and-tenon craftsmanship—and their standardized forms struggle to align with the space’s minimalist, restrained linear aesthetic. Furthermore, Miami’s hot and humid climate poses risks of wood expansion, cracking, and surface mold due to moisture; additionally, the high-frequency operations typical of a restaurant environment expose furniture surfaces to rapid wear and tear from water and oil stains. Executing traditional woodworking techniques across international borders presents further difficulties, particularly regarding the precise control of dimensional tolerances and structural stability—factors that, if mishandled, could easily compromise the space’s overall pure and serene artistic atmosphere.

To address these implementation hurdles, we devised a comprehensive, integrated custom procurement solution aligned with the project’s core solid wood design ethos. We faithfully replicated precise, nail-free mortise-and-tenon joinery, eliminating unnecessary metal hardware components. Through precise on-site spatial surveys, we fine-tuned furniture dimensions to fit the specific layout perfectly. We selected highly stable, moisture-resistant solid wood substrates, subjecting them to rigorous testing for heat resistance, moisture protection, stain penetration resistance, and structural durability. The furniture’s exterior lines were streamlined to harmonize with the space’s minimalist aesthetic, balancing ergonomic comfort for diners with the long-term load-bearing demands of commercial restaurant use. We managed the entire process—from raw material sourcing and custom manufacturing to cross-border logistics and precise on-site installation—ensuring the furniture integrated seamlessly with the space’s existing solid wood architectural finishes. Upon completion, the space’s pure, cross-cultural artistic atmosphere was fully realized; the mortise-and-tenon structures proved stable and durable, the materials demonstrated resilience against the local hot and humid climate, the circulation layout flowed smoothly and logically, and the furniture was designed for easy daily cleaning and maintenance, resisting deformation and wear over time.
