The flagship lounge of Alaska Airlines in Seattle, USA, is segmented into diverse functional zones—including a reception area, relaxation lounge, light dining area, social bar, and business workspace. All dining and leisure furniture within these spaces was fully custom-manufactured and supplied by our factory.

This project involved a large-scale, high-end airport lounge environment designed to accommodate multiple usage scenarios: dining, relaxation, work, and socialization. The space features expansive glass curtain walls for natural lighting and a foundational interior design characterized by natural wood finishes. The client faced significant implementation challenges: standard off-the-shelf furniture available on the market could not withstand the rigorous operational demands of an airport—specifically, high-frequency foot traffic, potential impact damage from luggage, and the wear and tear associated with prolonged seating. Furthermore, standard furniture often lacks sufficient sound-dampening and vibration-absorbing properties, risking noise interference that could disrupt the passenger experience. The furniture styles across the various functional zones were disparate, making it difficult to unify the overall “Pacific Northwest Natural” design aesthetic. Additionally, in such a vast, open-span environment, conventional furniture pieces often appear disproportionate, failing to balance the scale of the expansive layout. Finally, airport projects are subject to stringent industry standards regarding fire safety, environmental compliance, structural stability, abrasion resistance, and stain resistance. Cross-border delivery presented further logistical hurdles, including potential dimensional discrepancies, difficulties in controlling color consistency across finishes, and challenges ensuring precise modular assembly on-site—all of which hindered the creation of a truly soothing and tranquil lounge atmosphere.

To address these multifaceted challenges, we developed an integrated, custom-procurement solution aligned with the project’s core regional design ethos. We conducted precise surveys of the entire space to fine-tune the modular dimensions of the furniture, ensuring that the scale of the furnishings in each functional zone was perfectly proportioned to the expansive environment. We selected fire-retardant, eco-friendly solid wood substrates and high-density, abrasion-resistant upholstery fabrics. We subjected the furniture to rigorous specialized testing to verify its sound-dampening, vibration-absorbing, scratch-resistant, stain-resistant, load-bearing, and long-term durability capabilities. We optimized the ergonomic structure of the seating for prolonged comfort and unified the aesthetic across the entire space, establishing a cohesive look defined by the minimalist texture and clean lines of natural wood. We streamlined the entire end-to-end process—from raw material sourcing and custom manufacturing to cross-border logistics and seamless on-site modular assembly—ensuring that the furniture harmonized naturally with the wooden lattice work, glass curtain walls, and interior landscaping.

Upon the successful completion and installation of all furniture, the space fully realized its intended atmosphere: a naturally soothing and tranquil airport lounge. The passenger flow across the various functional zones is now fluid and logical; the fire-safe and durable construction techniques are fully capable of withstanding the airport’s rigorous, round-the-clock operations; daily cleaning and maintenance are convenient; and the furniture maintains its structural stability and aesthetic integrity over the long term, showing no signs of significant wear or deterioration.
