Case description
Our factory provided a comprehensive custom furniture solution for Ugli Restaurant, covering the central open-fire grill area, tiered social seating, curved booth enclosures, and the private dining section on the second-floor mezzanine. Our key products included heavy-duty charcoal-black wooden dining tables, high-backed chairs with woven textures, distressed leather modular sofas, and built-in metal-framed storage units. By deeply integrating traditional cultural motifs from the Caucasus region with a hardcore industrial aesthetic, we achieved a harmonious balance between the sensibility of ethnic craftsmanship and the logic of modern dining within the spatially dynamic environment created by Loft Buro.
The core challenges inherent in the project’s background lay in mitigating acoustic reverberation within the vast spatial volume and preventing visual clutter caused by the layering of diverse cultural elements. The client’s primary concerns stemmed from the space’s unique characteristics: it featured not only soaring ceilings and exposed industrial structures but also incorporated various ethnic elements—such as those from Turkey and Uzbekistan. Without a unified visual logic in the furniture design, there was a significant risk that the restaurant would resemble a chaotic open-air market. Furthermore, the restaurant’s centerpiece—a massive open-fire grill—imposed rigorous demands on the stability of the furniture materials due to high temperatures, smoke, and the resulting air currents. The owner was concerned that standard furniture would suffer from discoloration, cracking, or upholstery deformation under prolonged thermal radiation. Additionally, the expansive, tiered seating area required furniture that could deliver the comfortable seating experience synonymous with “Caucasian-style hospitality” while simultaneously maintaining exceptional structural integrity.
To address these challenges, our factory implemented a strategy involving heat-resistant material modification and the digital reconstruction of ethnic textures. To tackle the high-temperature environment surrounding the open-fire zone, we developed a heat-resistant, composite-stabilized structure for the wooden dining tables in this core area; this involved embedding a layer of heat-insulating, flame-retardant fibers beneath the solid wood surface. These tables successfully passed a rigorous 72-hour continuous thermal radiation fatigue test, ensuring that the materials would neither deform nor absorb grease over time. To ensure visual cohesion, we introduced digital weaving technology to transform traditional ethnic patterns into abstract geometric forms. We then custom-produced a series of high-backed woven chairs, utilizing a unified color palette—specifically charcoal black and deep brown—to visually harmonize the diverse cultural elements and prevent them from appearing disjointed. For the tiered seating area, we developed a modular sofa system featuring an asymmetrical center of gravity. Through an internal independent pocket-spring system, we successfully resolved the challenge of distributing support evenly when seating occurs on irregular stepped surfaces. Furthermore, we utilized semi-aniline leather treated with a deep, distressed finish—a material that not only harmonizes perfectly with the space’s rugged industrial aesthetic but also boasts exceptional resistance to smoke and oil stains.
The project results demonstrate that the custom furniture successfully transformed into a “visual anchor” within the space, serving to define its regional cultural boundaries. The furniture’s substantial, weighty texture creates a highly layered sensory interplay with the traditional tapestries and metal fixtures suspended from the ceiling. The client remarked: “By mastering the physical limits of the materials and deeply deconstructing the artistic style, the manufacturer delivered a furniture system that possesses both cultural warmth and the resilience to withstand the rigors of a high-intensity commercial environment. The furniture’s expressive quality—particularly under complex lighting conditions—far exceeded our expectations.”
