Case description

The hotel furnishings featured throughout the primary spaces of the De La Flora Resort—situated on the island of Phuket—were custom-manufactured and supplied by our factory.

The project’s context is defined by the resort’s immediate proximity to the coastline and its extensive array of semi-open private pool areas. Consequently, the furniture is required to withstand the dual chemical corrosion of high-concentration chlorine fumes from the pools and salt-laden mist from the sea over the long term. The client’s primary challenge lay in the fact that the soft furnishings—specifically the upholstery fabrics—of standard furniture are highly susceptible to embrittlement and tearing within such a chlorine-rich environment. Furthermore, the resort’s minimalist geometric architectural style demanded furniture featuring exceptionally slender structural supports—a requirement that posed significant engineering challenges regarding the assurance of long-term structural fatigue resistance and corrosion protection.

To address these issues, we developed a specialized “chloride-ion biochemical barrier layer” and an “ultra-fine grain reinforced welding” technique. We applied a dense, chemically inert fluorocarbon coating to the surfaces of the metal frames and subjected critical load-bearing joints to ultrasonic strengthening treatments designed to alter their molecular structure. These components successfully passed rigorous immersion tests in high-concentration chlorinated water, as well as fatigue tests simulating tens of thousands of instances of guest usage (such as leaning against the furniture). This comprehensive approach ensures that the furniture, while maintaining a visually ethereal lightness and pristine color palette, possesses the robust capability to withstand the corrosive forces of a harsh chemical environment.

The final outcome of the project is a collection of furnishings that exude a sense of exceptional luxury and durability. These bespoke pieces, with their geometric aesthetics perfectly aligned with the resort’s architectural vocabulary, integrate seamlessly into its contemporary setting. Not only do they significantly retard the rate of material degradation typically associated with high-salinity and high-chlorine environments, but they have also garnered unanimous acclaim from the client for their unwavering structural stability under intensive commercial use—serving as a testament to the flawless fusion of technical precision and modern aesthetics.
