Case description
The Mercure Hotel Auckland, situated in the city center, employs a design language characterized by urban artistry and relaxed vibrancy to create an experience that seamlessly blends business and leisure. Our factory served as the exclusive supplier for the entire suite of custom-made furniture—spanning guest rooms, executive suites, the all-day dining restaurant, the lobby bar, and various multi-functional public areas.
During the project’s initial stages, the client faced a unique set of challenges. Auckland’s oceanic climate—characterized by year-round humidity, frequent rainfall, and significant temperature fluctuations—posed a high demand for furniture durability and weather resistance, as wood veneers were prone to moisture absorption and deformation, while fabrics were susceptible to mold and fading. Furthermore, the Mercure brand places a strong emphasis on localized artistic expression; the challenge lay in balancing standardized brand DNA with the need to integrate the specific urban vitality and creative atmosphere of Auckland—a delicate act of balancing global standards with local context. The hotel’s diverse functional spaces—ranging from guest rooms to restaurants, bars, and public areas—required a design language that spanned a wide spectrum, from minimalist business aesthetics to bright, lively leisure styles; ensuring stylistic cohesion across such disparate settings without creating visual fragmentation was a significant hurdle. Simultaneously, the high volume of guest traffic and rapid turnover rates subjected the furniture to rigorous testing regarding its resistance to abrasion, staining, and structural deformation.
Leveraging the capabilities of our own manufacturing facility, we developed targeted solutions to effectively address these complex challenges. The furniture design was anchored by clean lines and neutral gray tones, accented with the brand’s signature high-saturation colors—a stylistic approach that successfully preserved Mercure’s urban artistic identity while infusing it with Auckland’s creative energy. To counter the local humid climate, all solid wood furniture underwent specialized stabilization treatments to prevent moisture absorption and expansion; fabrics were selected for their antimicrobial, mold-resistant, water-repellent, stain-resistant, and high-abrasion-resistant properties; and all metal hardware received anti-rust treatments to comprehensively enhance overall weather resistance. For guest rooms, we custom-designed sleek, lightweight bed frames and multi-functional desks; for the restaurant and bar areas, we crafted comfortable yet durable dining chairs and modular sofas—striking a perfect balance between commercial-grade durability and sophisticated design aesthetics. Throughout the entire process, we maintained unified control over materials, color palettes, and craftsmanship to ensure stylistic harmony across all furniture pieces in every setting, delivering a comprehensive, one-stop production and supply solution that aligned seamlessly with the project’s critical milestones.
Upon the project’s completion, the entire furniture collection proved to be in perfect harmony with the hotel’s vibrant urban aesthetic. From the guest rooms to the dining areas and public spaces, the stylistic cohesion remained impeccable; even after prolonged periods of high-frequency use, the furniture retained its structural integrity and crisp appearance—remaining free from mold or deformation—resulting in exceptionally low maintenance costs. The hotel management expressed their high appreciation, commending us for precisely achieving a harmonious fusion of the brand’s artistic DNA with the distinct urban flair of Auckland. Furthermore, we successfully addressed critical pain points—specifically, the lack of furniture weather resistance in a maritime climate, the challenge of unifying design aesthetics across diverse settings, and the need for durability under high guest traffic—thereby establishing a benchmark project for Mercure in New Zealand that embodies both refined quality and vibrant local character.
As a direct furniture manufacturer, we specialize in artistic brand expression, weather-resistant craftsmanship tailored to maritime climates, stylistic cohesion across multi-functional spaces, and durable design engineered for high-traffic commercial environments. We are fully equipped to provide comprehensive, one-stop furniture customization solutions to the global Mercure brand and other design-focused hotels of a similar caliber.
