Case description
Drawing upon the unique, low-density garden landscape of Excellence·Green Villa (Excellence·Qianhai Danhua), we delivered a comprehensive soft furnishing solution encompassing custom furniture, lighting fixtures, mattresses, rugs, wall art, and decorative accessories.
As a low-density villa situated within a bustling urban district, the client’s primary challenge lay in navigating the delicate balance between “maximizing natural light ingress and maintaining interior privacy boundaries.” Because the architecture features extensive floor-to-ceiling corner windows designed to seamlessly integrate with the surrounding gardens, the resulting excessive diffusion of light within the interior created a visually “weightless” or ethereal atmosphere, lacking a sense of grounded stability and intimate enclosure. Furthermore, the homeowner imposed nearly medical-grade, rigorous standards regarding the eco-friendliness of the furniture; the faint residual odors often associated with traditional engineered wood panels and adhesives—particularly within a villa environment where air exchange rates vary—constituted their greatest psychological concern. Consequently, the homeowner urgently required a holistic home furnishing system capable of grounding the spatial atmosphere while meeting the most exacting safety and environmental benchmarks.
Our solution involved a dual strategy: “Light-Sensitive Gravitational Balancing” and “Fully Bio-Based Eco-Engineering.” To counteract the visual sense of weightlessness, we rebalanced the interplay of light and shadow through a strategic reconfiguration of furniture materials. In areas adjacent to windows, we deployed stone elements with light-absorbing textures alongside matte, deep-brown woodwork; by leveraging the low reflectivity of these materials to absorb excess light, we effectively anchored the visual center of gravity within the space. To address the environmental imperatives, every product within the comprehensive package—including mattresses, furniture substrates, and even the backing adhesives for the rugs—was crafted using bio-based bonding agents derived from soy protein and natural latex, thereby eliminating aldehyde and benzene-based contaminants at the source. The lighting scheme was designed around an indirect illumination system, utilizing the unique granular textures of the decorative wall art to facilitate diffuse light reflection, thereby cultivating an interior lighting environment characterized by both depth and rich layering.
Feedback from the homeowner at Excellence·Green Villa: “This comprehensive design solution precisely resolved the issue of the space feeling ‘unsettled’ or ‘restless.’ The lighting within our home has transformed into something gentle and profound—evoking a sense of tranquility even when bathed in direct, intense sunlight. What gives us the greatest peace of mind is that, following the installation of the entire soft furnishing package, our indoor air quality test results have consistently remained at the level of natural outdoor environments. This transparent assurance of safety, combined with the sophisticated sense of grounded stability, perfectly aligns with the original vision and intent behind our family’s decision to make this house our home.” The owners believe that what we have delivered is not merely exquisite furnishings, but a comprehensive system—a robust shield for healthy living and a finely tuned mechanism for managing light and shadow—designed to stand the test of time.
