Case description

As specialists in custom furniture, we provided a comprehensive suite of custom loose furniture solutions for the Courtyard by Marriott Shenzhen project, furnishing its high-ceilinged lobby, Executive Lounge, all-day dining restaurant, and business guest rooms.

Given Shenzhen’s status as a highly efficient technology hub, the primary challenge of this project lay in accommodating the “ultra-high-frequency switching” of spatial functions. The client’s key pain point was the need for the hotel’s public areas to rapidly transition between formal business meetings during the day, social tea breaks in the afternoon, and a casual bar atmosphere in the evening. The original furniture designs were overly heavy and lacked flexibility; furthermore, under conditions of frequent movement and heavy usage, furniture joints would easily loosen, and wood veneers would often exhibit subtle deformation due to Shenzhen’s humid coastal climate—making it difficult to maintain the level of sophistication required by an international brand.

We implemented a dual optimization strategy involving lightweight structural engineering and weather-resistant manufacturing processes. For the open-plan communal tables, semi-enclosed meeting pods, and modular sofas featured in the accompanying images, we internally adopted a composite structure utilizing aluminum honeycomb panels and solid wood laminates. This approach significantly reduced the furniture’s weight while preserving its substantial, high-quality aesthetic, thereby enabling a single staff member to effortlessly rearrange the venue layout. To counter Shenzhen’s high-humidity environment, all furniture joints were bonded using a two-component moisture-resistant adhesive technology, and all surface finishes were treated with a high-performance, abrasion-resistant polymer coating. Additionally, we integrated a discreet, concealed rail charging system into the business meeting tables; this feature perfectly alleviated the “power anxiety” often experienced by business travelers in this tech-centric city, all without compromising the minimalist aesthetic of the design.

The Courtyard operations team reported that this collection of custom furniture has significantly unlocked the versatile potential of their public spaces, boosting the efficiency of functional venue transitions by over 50%. Even during Shenzhen’s high-humidity seasons, the furniture has maintained impeccable structural integrity and physical stability. The property owner commended our deep focus on durability and flexibility, noting that we have successfully created a core asset for the hotel—one characterized by exceptional resilience and adaptability—thereby helping the brand successfully stand out within Shenzhen’s highly competitive business hotel market.
