As specialists in high-end bespoke solutions, we delivered a comprehensive range of outdoor furniture for the W Shanghai – The Bund project, covering the Terrace Bar, the WET Pool Deck, and the landscaped leisure areas.

Boasting iconic views of the Lujiazui skyline, the terrace at W Shanghai – The Bund is a world-renowned social hotspot. The ultimate challenge facing our client was ensuring “pioneering color stability in all-weather environments”: the Bund district endures scorching heat and intense sun exposure during the summer, as well as high humidity and strong gusts of wind during the monsoon season. The client’s primary pain point lay in the W brand’s highly distinctive fluorescent hues and high-saturation fabrics, which are prone to fading and yellowing under intense UV radiation. Furthermore, the high-altitude winds on the terrace frequently caused lightweight outdoor furniture to shift or even tip over. Consequently, the owner urgently required a suite of high-strength furniture capable of withstanding extreme weather conditions while maintaining colors that remained as vibrant as new.

We implemented a proprietary Color-Locking and Wind-Resistant Balance System. For the specific pieces shown in the accompanying images—including the electric-hued, organically shaped sofas, circular poolside loungers, and illuminated bar counter bases—we selected solution-dyed specialty outdoor fabrics. This choice elevated their UV resistance rating to Level 8—the industry’s highest standard—ensuring that the fluorescent color palette remains free of visible color degradation, even after prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Structurally, we adopted a design featuring concealed weighted bases; by utilizing advanced center-of-gravity shifting technology, we endowed the furniture with the stability to withstand gale-force winds (Level 10) without the need for ground-mounted expansion bolts. For all metal components, we applied a dual-layer anti-corrosion coating process, effectively shielding them against the corrosive effects of urban acid rain and the humid, maritime air characteristic of the Bund.

Feedback from W Shanghai – The Bund’s operations team confirms that this collection of bespoke furniture has successfully withstood the rigors of the Bund’s complex climate; notably, the high-saturation brand colors remain as vivid as the day they were installed, even after several seasons of intensive use. The exceptional stability of the furniture has significantly enhanced operational safety across the outdoor terrace areas.
