Case description
For the Hyatt Place Beijing Expo Hotel project, we seamlessly integrated the specific geographical environment with the flexible spatial characteristics of the Hyatt Place brand to provide a comprehensive, full-scenario custom furniture service.
Situated adjacent to the Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition grounds, the hotel primarily caters to vacationing families and large educational tour groups. The client’s core challenge lay in the extreme dynamic demands placed on the space: due to the drastic diurnal temperature fluctuations and arid air typical of Beijing’s northern suburbs, wooden furniture was highly susceptible to structural cracking caused by dryness. Furthermore, while the Hyatt Place brand emphasizes a seamless transition between work and leisure, the original standard furniture proved inadequate in handling the rigors of high-frequency use—such as children climbing on or drawing on surfaces, and educational groups frequently rearranging furniture for breakout sessions. Specifically, the fabric’s stain resistance and the overall structural stability of the frames fell short, resulting in persistently high maintenance costs for the hotel’s operations team.
We implemented a solution centered on structural stress balancing and molecular-level surface protection. For the multi-functional “Cozy Corner” sofas in guest rooms and the modular coffee tables in social areas, we utilized hardwood frames that had undergone an extended kiln-drying and secondary-aging process; additionally, we embedded self-regulating stress components at critical joints to buffer against wood deformation caused by extreme climatic conditions. Regarding high-contact upholstered fabrics, we applied a specialized fluorocarbon molecular coating across the entire range, effectively preventing stubborn stains—such as fruit juice and ink—from penetrating the fibers. Moreover, we reinforced and cushioned the bases of all public-area furniture; this ensures silent movement and prevents floor damage, even under frequent shifting and repositioning.
The operations team at the Hyatt Place Beijing Expo Hotel offered the following feedback: “After enduring several harsh northern winters, this batch of custom furniture has maintained impeccable structural integrity, with zero post-sales issues arising from structural cracking due to dryness. The self-cleaning properties of the furniture surfaces have significantly alleviated the cleaning burden on our housekeeping team during peak tourist seasons, thereby substantially extending the product’s service life and refresh cycle.” The hotel ownership further noted that, by deeply anticipating the nuances of the local climate and the specific user profiles, we delivered a furniture asset portfolio characterized by exceptional weather resistance and high operational efficiency—a solution that perfectly embodies the core values of the Hyatt Place brand: efficiency and comfort.
