Case description
Leveraging our extensive practical engineering expertise, we delivered a comprehensive suite of custom-designed furniture for the Hampton by Hilton Shenzhen, encompassing the lobby bar, Hampton Restaurant, business center, and “Elite” themed guest rooms.
As a high-traffic business hub, Shenzhen demands that the Hampton brand’s core values—”Friendly, Reliable, and Thoughtful”—be fully realized. The client’s primary challenge in this project lay in maximizing spatial efficiency: the public area (the “Hub”) needed to seamlessly accommodate four distinct modes within a single day—breakfast service, mobile working, informal meetings, and evening leisure. Furthermore, while Hampton’s brand standards feature vibrant color palettes, the use of materials lacking sufficient textural quality could easily result in a perceived sense of cheapness. The owner urgently required a lightweight furniture system capable of withstanding the heavy wear and tear of high-frequency business use, while also possessing the ability to “reconfigure instantly.” Simultaneously, the solution had to address the rigorous challenges posed by Shenzhen’s monsoon season—specifically, protecting board edging and upholstered elements against moisture and mold.
We implemented a solution featuring highly flexible spatial modules combined with a “migratory-grade” weather-resistance strategy. For the modular sofas and multi-functional communal tables in the lobby area, we utilized carbon-fiber-reinforced internal frames; this approach ensured structural integrity while reducing the weight of each furniture piece by 30%. These units were fitted with concealed, silent-gliding casters, enabling the operations team to instantly reconfigure the spatial layout and traffic flow in response to fluctuating guest volumes. To combat Shenzhen’s humid climate, all furniture substrates were constructed using ENF-grade moisture-resistant OSB (Oriented Strand Board), with edging applied using seamless PUR laser technology to physically prevent moisture infiltration and subsequent cracking. Furthermore, all upholstered materials were treated with a nano-scale antimicrobial coating to ensure the fabrics remain odor-free and resistant to mold growth, even in high-humidity environments.
Feedback from the Hampton by Hilton Shenzhen operations team confirms that this custom furniture collection precisely aligns with the brand’s core DNA; in particular, the flexibility of the lobby area furnishings has significantly boosted seating occupancy rates during non-breakfast hours. The furniture’s durability under high-frequency use far exceeds that of comparable products, while its stain-resistant and fade-resistant surface finishes effectively maintain the hotel’s perpetually fresh and pristine appearance. The owner’s assessment highlights that, through a deep understanding of both spatial reconfiguration logic and regional climatic conditions, we have delivered a furniture asset that embodies the warmth of the brand while delivering exceptional commercial efficiency per square foot.
