The MGallery Philippopolis Hotel in Plovdiv, Bulgaria—a boutique design hotel under the Sofitel-owned MGallery brand—pays homage to the ancient city’s rich historical heritage through a modern design aesthetic. Our factory served as the exclusive supplier for the entire suite of custom-made movable furniture featured throughout the hotel’s guest rooms, suites, restaurant, lobby bar, and poolside lounge areas.
During the project’s initial stages, the client faced a unique set of challenges: as an MGallery property, the hotel was required to seamlessly blend the brand’s signature artistic, “light-luxury” style with the distinct cultural ambiance of ancient Plovdiv—a task demanding a delicate balance between French sophistication and the conveyance of local historical atmosphere. Furthermore, the region’s pronounced continental climate—characterized by significant temperature fluctuations between winter and summer, as well as marked humidity shifts—imposed rigorous demands on the furniture’s resistance to deformation and cracking. The hotel’s diverse functional zones—spanning guest rooms, dining areas, public spaces, and the poolside—necessitated furniture capable of adapting to a wide spectrum of settings, ranging from private retreats to public social hubs, while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic throughout. Moreover, as a boutique hotel, the project demanded exceptionally high standards regarding furniture craftsmanship, material quality, and installation precision—requirements that often prove beyond the capabilities of conventional suppliers.
Leveraging the capabilities of our own manufacturing facility, we developed targeted solutions to effectively address these complex challenges. The furniture design palette centers on warm wood tones, matte metal accents, and premium upholstered finishes; featuring clean, refined lines, the designs incorporate textural elements inspired by local historical architecture to achieve a perfect equilibrium between French-style luxury and the ancient city’s unique character. To counter the local climate conditions, all solid wood furniture underwent specialized stabilization treatments to prevent cracking, while upholstery fabrics were selected for their high-grade durability, stain resistance, and ease of maintenance; additionally, all metal hardware received anti-corrosion treatments to ensure maximum weather resistance. For the guest rooms, we crafted custom bed frames, desks, and storage units perfectly scaled to the architectural dimensions; for the restaurant and lobby bar, we designed tables, chairs, and modular sofas that combine artistic flair with commercial-grade durability; and for the poolside area, we provided weather-resistant outdoor furniture—thereby ensuring that the specific functional requirements of every distinct zone were fully met. Throughout the entire process, we adhered to rigorous quality control standards and maintained highly efficient coordination to meet all project milestones.
Upon the project’s completion, the entire furniture collection proved to be in perfect harmony with the hotel’s artistic, light-luxury aesthetic. From the guest rooms to the public areas, the brand’s visual language and the local culture complement one another beautifully, resulting in furniture that demonstrates exceptional stability and durability during long-term operation, while requiring minimal maintenance.
