Case Description
Our factory provided Olka with a comprehensive, custom office furniture solution spanning open-plan collaborative zones, circular multi-purpose conference rooms, private executive offices, and dynamic social break areas. Our key products included streamlined integrated desks, modular acoustic felt partitions, extra-long artistic conference tables, and customized ergonomic seating systems. By deeply integrating minimalist geometric order with fluid natural forms, we achieved a delicate balance between efficient collaboration and a sense of psychological privacy within the highly transparent space designed by Habif Architects.
The core challenge inherent in this project’s context lay in mitigating visual distractions within an entirely open-plan layout, while simultaneously addressing the incompatibility of standard furniture with the space’s non-linear geometry. The client’s primary pain points stemmed from the office’s extensive use of glass partitions and continuous curved circulation paths; while these features enhanced natural lighting, they also rendered employees highly susceptible to visual distractions from surrounding activity during work hours. Furthermore, standard linear office furniture proved incapable of accommodating a high-density seating arrangement without disrupting the spatial flow. Additionally, the space featured numerous irregularly shaped wall bases; conventional cable management systems struggled to resolve the complex integration of power and data cabling across multiple workstations while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic—a concern for the owner, who feared that exposed cables would compromise the space’s gallery-like purity.
To address these challenges, our factory implemented a solution featuring invisible integrated cable management and combined visual-acoustic partitions. To accommodate the non-linear layout, we utilized industrial-grade 3D printing and molding techniques to develop a series of infinitely modular curved desk units; through precise radius calculations, these desks were designed to align perfectly parallel with the architectural curves of the building itself. In terms of functional integration, we developed a vertical cable management system embedded directly within the desk legs; utilizing a patented rail-based cable tray mechanism, we achieved a minimalist desktop aesthetic completely free of visible cables. To mitigate visual distractions, we custom-fabricated high-color-rendering acoustic felt screens. The height of these screens was calibrated based on seated sightline tests, ensuring that employees remain focused while seated, yet allowing for complete visual transparency across the entire space when standing. For the conference area, we employed a seamless thermoforming technique using artificial stone to craft an oversized conference table. This process ensured that the 6-meter-long tabletop remained entirely free of any visible seams, and it successfully passed rigorous testing for stain resistance and impermeability.
The project results demonstrate that the custom-designed furniture successfully serves as an organic framework within the space, defining both functional zones and circulation paths. Furthermore, the furniture’s pristine white palette creates a visually striking contrast against the warm wooden flooring, lending an air of sophisticated elegance to the environment. The client remarked: “By pushing the boundaries of their custom fabrication capabilities to the absolute limit, the factory delivered a suite of office furniture that breathes in perfect harmony with the architectural structure. Not only did this solution effectively resolve the issue of distractions inherent in an open-plan layout, but—through its meticulous attention to cable management details—it also significantly elevated our company’s professional brand image.”
