Case Description

The Shenzhen headquarters of Tencent Music Entertainment Group (TME) is situated within the Kexing Science Park in Shenzhen, China.

Our factory provided a comprehensive, custom office furniture solution for the TME headquarters—covering everything from boundless shared lobbies and inspiration-triggering collaboration zones to immersive acoustic workstations and multi-dimensional digital art exhibition halls. Our key product offerings included streamlined, minimalist office islands; highly flexible, modular lounge seating; acoustically optimized privacy partitions; and custom-designed smart interactive presentation desks. By deeply integrating fluid musical motifs with the concept of a “boundless office,” we successfully achieved a harmonious balance between the emotive expression of musical artistry and the demands of high-efficiency internet-era collaboration within a highly futuristic spatial environment.

The primary challenge inherent in this project’s context lay in reconciling the extremely high frequency of brainstorming sessions with the rigorous acoustic requirements critical to music product research and development. The client’s specific pain point stemmed from the fact that TME houses a vast pool of creative talent requiring constant, spontaneous exchanges of inspiration; traditional fixed workstations were perceived as barriers hindering such impromptu, cross-departmental communication. Simultaneously, audio algorithm engineers and content editors imposed professional standards regarding workstation background noise control and sound field distribution that far exceeded conventional corporate norms. Consequently, the client required a solution that could carve out localized “focus zones”—offering studio-grade tranquility—within an otherwise completely open, boundless floor plan, while also resolving the logistical chaos surrounding power access amidst a workforce characterized by high mobility.

To address these challenges, our factory implemented furniture surface technologies optimized for frequency response, alongside a contactless, modular power-sharing system. Regarding the acoustic pain points, we developed uniquely shaped acoustic back panels featuring sound-diffusing geometries. By utilizing the textured, modular surfaces of the furniture, we effectively disrupted the flutter echoes typically generated by parallel walls; subsequent field tests verified the panels’ efficacy in terms of sound absorption coefficients and the attenuation of low-frequency standing waves, thereby endowing the open workstations with inherent acoustic-regulation capabilities. To enhance collaborative flexibility, we introduced a ceiling-mounted, concealed-track power system coupled with an automatic docking mechanism integrated into the furniture bases, allowing employees to instantly access power for their devices—much like plugging in an appliance—at any designated collaboration zone. Finally, to reflect the creative ethos of the organization, we utilized digitally printable, translucent resin composite materials to craft a series of semi-enclosed workspace units that visually evoke the imagery of flowing digital waveforms. These units successfully passed rigorous friction-resistance tests simulating frequent reconfiguration, ensuring that the workspace layout remains fluid and seamless even as it is dynamically rearranged. The project results demonstrate that the custom-designed furniture successfully transformed into a tangible medium, defining the rhythm and melody of the interior space. Its translucent textures and soft color palette serve as a perfect complement to the vision of creating infinite musical possibilities.
