Case description

For this project—the Tunguska Restaurant in Moscow, Russia—all restaurant furniture across various zones (including open seating areas, enclosed booths, communal dining tables, and a casual bar) was fully custom-manufactured and supplied exclusively by our factory.

The project’s design theme centers on the raw, untamed wilderness, incorporating extensive rugged architectural textures and irregular wall structures into the space. Prior to our involvement, the client faced significant implementation challenges: standard off-the-shelf furniture available on the market featured refined, soft lines that failed to complement the space’s raw, rugged atmosphere. Furthermore, the prevalence of irregularly shaped walls meant that generic furniture could not fit seamlessly against the spatial boundaries. Given the venue’s high foot traffic and large-scale group dining volume, ordinary furniture lacked sufficient load-bearing capacity and was prone to deformation and cracking. Additionally, replicating “raw” textures and materials on a mass scale proved difficult; for a cross-border project, maintaining consistency in natural wood grain variations and rugged craftsmanship standards was a particular challenge. Finally, a lack of seamless integration in the soft furnishings would have disrupted the overall serene, primal ambiance of the space.

To address these multifaceted issues, we developed a comprehensive, integrated custom procurement solution centered on the core design ethos of the “wild wilderness.” We conducted on-site surveys of the irregular spatial structures to ensure the furniture’s shapes and dimensions were perfectly tailored to the environment. We utilized authentic, distressed solid wood materials to create a rugged, textured aesthetic; simultaneously, we optimized the furniture’s internal load-bearing structures and subjected them to rigorous compression and durability testing. Through specialized “natural weathering” techniques, we authentically recreated the raw, primal textures, thereby ensuring a unified rugged aesthetic across all furniture throughout the space. We balanced ergonomic comfort with the practical requirements of large-group dining, while fully coordinating the entire process—from custom manufacturing and cross-border logistics to on-site installation and arrangement—to ensure the furniture blended seamlessly with the rugged hardscape architecture and natural greenery.

Upon the successful installation of all project furniture, the space’s intended atmosphere of raw, untamed wilderness was fully realized. The furniture dimensions fit the on-site layout with precision, and the robust, durable structures are perfectly suited to the restaurant’s daily operational demands, offering strong resistance to daily wear and tear while remaining simple and convenient to maintain. The client expressed high satisfaction with our custom services, commending us for accurately capturing the space’s raw, rugged aesthetic—successfully balancing the creation of natural textures with commercial functionality—and for adeptly resolving the complex material and craftsmanship challenges inherent in overseas projects, thereby delivering a flawless soft furnishing solution.
