Case description

For this project—the Orvay Bistro in Barcelona, Spain—all dining furniture throughout the entire venue was custom-manufactured and supplied by our factory. The interior design draws color inspiration from the wine-making process, encompassing a stone-clad entrance bar area, a deep-green themed dining zone, a warm-pink toned lounge corner, and a vintage-style casual seating area. By seamlessly blending medieval stone walls with a modern color aesthetic, the space cultivates a refined yet relaxed social atmosphere.

The core challenge of this project lay in balancing the historical fabric of the building with modern color zoning. The client sought furniture that would harmonize with the original stone walls, vintage arches, and the space’s three-tone color gradient, while simultaneously avoiding the visual heaviness often associated with vintage-style furnishings. Furthermore, the venue’s long, narrow layout required a design that ensured both fluid circulation and distinct spatial segmentation. Given the high-traffic commercial environment, concerns arose regarding marble countertops—which are prone to staining—and wooden components, which are susceptible to moisture-induced warping; additionally, the furniture needed to embody the refined, nuanced textures inherent to the wine theme—a standard of quality that off-the-shelf products on the market simply could not meet in terms of balancing vintage aesthetics, color precision, and commercial-grade durability.

To address these challenges, we implemented a comprehensive strategy focused on color-zone adaptation and textural integration. Through rigorous on-site color calibration and multiple rounds of prototyping, we custom-matched furniture fabrics and finishes to the specific color palettes of the space—specifically wine-green, warm-pink, and ecru. We selected reinforced, stain-resistant marble for countertops and moisture-resistant solid wood for structural components, subjecting them to rigorous testing for stain resistance, moisture tolerance, and load-bearing capacity to ensure long-term stability. For the narrow sections of the venue, we designed lightweight furniture featuring slender legs, alongside open-work partitions; this approach optimized the flow of movement while simultaneously enhancing the visual layering and segmentation of the space. We maintained strict oversight throughout the entire process—from custom manufacturing to on-site installation—to ensure that the furniture coexisted naturally and harmoniously with both the medieval stone walls and the modern color scheme.

Upon the completion of the furniture installation, the space revealed clear, harmonious color layering and a sophisticated, refined vintage aesthetic. The circulation within the narrow zones felt fluid and unconstrained, while daily cleaning and maintenance remained effortless—achieving a perfect balance between historical character and modern commercial requirements. The client expressed immense satisfaction with our custom service, commending our ability to precisely translate the wine-themed design language into reality. They praised our success in resolving the complex challenges associated with adapting to an historic building, managing color zoning, and balancing durability—ultimately utilizing exquisite craftsmanship to elegantly bring the fusion of vintage textures and modern colors to life.
