Case description
For this project—the Strelka Bar in Moscow, Russia—all dining furniture was fully custom-manufactured and supplied by our factory. This bespoke collection perfectly aligns with the bar’s core positioning—a blend of “retro-eclectic style and riverside views”—and seamlessly integrates with the design philosophy of the Static Aesthetic Bureau, deeply fusing Art Deco elements, the textures of vintage furniture, and the demands of modern social interaction.
The client’s primary challenge lay in the bar’s status as a popular “Instagrammable” hotspot situated adjacent to the Moscow River and a major cathedral. The furniture needed to highlight both Art Deco and Scandinavian retro aesthetics without creating a stylistic disconnect from the riverside scenery or the vintage-themed interiors. Simultaneously, it had to withstand the wear and tear associated with high-volume foot traffic, endure the humid conditions of the outdoor terrace, and functionally adapt to the specific requirements of distinct zones (indoor booths, the central bar, and the rooftop terrace). Standard off-the-shelf furniture simply could not reconcile this need for vintage authenticity with practical durability, nor could it achieve the necessary visual balance within a space designed to maximize scenic views.
Addressing these specific pain points, we eschewed standardized mass-produced furniture in favor of a custom solution centered on “retro textures and functional adaptability.” We carefully selected distressed solid wood and wear-resistant metal materials to faithfully replicate the furniture silhouettes of the 1960s and 70s. Furthermore, we applied moisture-proof and anti-corrosion treatments to the terrace furniture and structurally reinforced the bar and booth seating. These pieces underwent rigorous specialized testing—covering wear resistance, moisture resistance, and load-bearing capacity—to ensure they not only complemented the bar’s vintage artistic ambiance but also stood up to the humid outdoor environment and the demands of heavy daily use. Ultimately, the custom furniture integrated flawlessly into the space; it not only accentuated the distinct textures of Art Deco and vintage design but also harmoniously echoed the riverside landscape and the views of the cathedral. Achieving a perfect synthesis of aesthetics and utility, the custom work garnered high praise from the client, who recognized the furniture as far more than just a precise fit for the bar’s design core—it became a pivotal medium bridging vintage aesthetics with modern social dynamics, significantly elevating both the customer experience and the bar’s unique brand identity.
