Case Description
Our factory supplied the furniture for the primary functional areas within the Tonglu County Maternal and Child Health Hospital.
We provided the hospital with a comprehensive, custom-tailored furniture solution covering the perinatal care clinic, the administrative offices of the Maternal and Child Center, expert consultation rooms, and interactive waiting areas for parents and children. Key products included medical-grade desks featuring antimicrobial properties, reception desks constructed from high-performance polymer resins, integrated functional storage cabinets, and ergonomic waiting-area bench seating. By seamlessly integrating warm, inviting aesthetics with highly efficient medical workflows, we successfully balanced the rigorous professionalism required for clinical diagnosis and treatment with the psychological comfort essential for mothers and children within a highly approachable hospital environment.
A primary challenge inherent in the project’s context was determining how to mitigate patient flow congestion—caused by large crowds of waiting mothers and children—within the confined spaces typical of a specialized hospital. Furthermore, we had to address the extreme chemical corrosion risks posed to furniture surface materials by the high-frequency disinfection protocols required in such environments. The client’s specific pain points stemmed from the hospital’s role as the county-wide hub for maternal and child health services; consequently, it handles a massive daily patient volume involving a highly sensitive demographic. Traditional medical furniture—characterized by sharp edges and sterile, cold color palettes—tends to exacerbate children’s inherent anxiety regarding medical visits. Simultaneously, medical staff—who endure long hours and heavy workloads—lacked office support systems capable of effectively alleviating physical fatigue while offering robust storage capabilities. The client therefore urgently required a custom solution that could simultaneously satisfy stringent infection control standards and embody a spirit of humanistic care.
To address these challenges, our factory implemented a “fully-wrapped” rounded-edge design process alongside a self-healing, chemically resistant surface treatment solution. Regarding infection control safety, we developed a surface material infused with long-lasting silver-ion antimicrobial agents and employed seamless laser edge-banding technology to prevent bacterial proliferation within furniture joints; this solution successfully passed simulated testing involving 3,000 cycles of wiping with high-concentration disinfectants without exhibiting any discoloration. In terms of human-centered design, we incorporated biomechanically optimized curves, applying a rounded-corner (R-angle) passivation treatment to every exposed edge of the clinic furniture; this design passed physical impact simulation tests, thereby ensuring the physical safety of mothers and children moving through the space. To resolve the storage dilemma, we designed digital workstations featuring built-in classification and indexing systems. Through a tiered vertical management structure, we enabled the orderly segregation of medical records from personal belongings, thereby significantly enhancing the operational efficiency of the medical staff. The project results demonstrate that the custom-designed furniture successfully served as a spatial medium for alleviating stress between medical staff and patients, while simultaneously optimizing clinical workflows. Its soft Macaron color palette and wood-grain textures significantly enhanced the hospital’s brand image.
The client commended the manufacturer for—through meticulous simulation of medical behaviors specific to maternal and child healthcare—delivering a medical office system characterized by exceptional durability and emotional warmth. This system not only resolved the persistent issue of furniture wear and tear caused by frequent disinfection protocols but also, through meticulous safety-focused design, established a warm and secure sanctuary for the health and well-being of women and children throughout the county. The primary spaces encompassed within the project include the Maternal and Child Care Coordination Center, the Digital Administrative Management Zone, the Welcoming Maternal and Infant Waiting Corridor, and the Expert Remote Consultation Room.
