Case description

As specialists in custom furniture, we provided a comprehensive furniture customization solution for the Brisbane Marriott Hotel project, furnishing its Executive Lounge, All-Day Dining Restaurant, Business Conference Center, and signature guest rooms.

As an established, classic luxury hotel in Brisbane, the owner faced a significant challenge during the renovation process: a stylistic “disconnect” between the building’s existing classical European architectural foundation and the modern business traveler’s demand for a sleek, efficient workspace environment. The client’s primary concern was how to introduce lightweight, airy furniture—pieces that feel open and breathable—into a traditional layout dominated by heavy solid wood finishes, without creating a jarring visual contrast. Furthermore, given the hotel’s exceptionally high occupancy rate, the owner was deeply concerned about the stain resistance of the new furniture’s upholstery and the durability of the furniture’s exterior surfaces against the bumps and scuffs inherent in a high-traffic business environment.

We implemented a strategy that seamlessly blended new and old aesthetics while incorporating long-term material protection solutions. For the open-plan lobby lounge, executive lounge, and guest rooms—as depicted in the accompanying images—we employed a structural technique featuring “slender metal frames inlaid with solid wood.” This approach utilized minimalist metal lines to define the furniture’s contours, while the interiors were filled with finishes that preserved the natural warmth and texture of the wood, thereby achieving a visually lighter and more airy aesthetic. Regarding fabric selection, we exclusively utilized specialized fibers endowed with a triple-action performance—offering stain resistance, anti-static properties, and flame retardancy—ensuring the furniture remains looking as good as new, even in high-usage areas such as the restaurant. For business desks and work surfaces, we embedded a high-hardness, abrasion-resistant layer with anti-glare properties, effectively resolving the common issue of classic-style furniture being prone to surface scratches.

The management team at the Brisbane Marriott offered the following feedback: “This collection of custom furniture has successfully transformed the hotel’s aesthetic from ‘staid and dated’ to ‘modern classic.’ While preserving the brand’s heritage and underlying character, it has significantly enhanced the guest experience for our business travelers. The durability of the guest room furniture has exceeded our expectations; even with a high guest turnover rate, the pieces have maintained an exceptionally high level of structural and aesthetic integrity.” The owner concluded that, through a precise reinterpretation of material aesthetics, we have created a spatial asset for the hotel that embodies both historical depth and modern vitality.
