Case description

For this project—the Glorietta restaurant and bar in North Sydney, Australia—all dining furniture throughout the entire venue, including solid wood dining tables, woven rattan chairs, communal dining counters, bar stools, upholstered banquettes, and casual side tables, was fully custom-manufactured and supplied by our factory.

The venue was originally a cold, cavernous commercial glass structure that required transformation into a dining space imbued with the warm, rustic charm of the Italian countryside. The client faced distinct practical challenges: the original building featured excessive ceiling heights and a vast, fragmented layout; standard off-the-shelf furniture was too visually slight to balance the proportions of such an expansive space; and the environment naturally lacked a sense of intimacy. Furthermore, the establishment operates across a full daily cycle—serving light meals during the day and drinks and dinner gatherings in the evening—meaning standard furniture would lack the necessary durability and moisture resistance. Replicating the natural textures of rattan and solid wood consistently across a large batch was difficult; as a cross-border project, ensuring color consistency in natural materials and maintaining stylistic unity across different furniture zones presented significant hurdles. Moreover, a failure to seamlessly integrate the soft furnishings would have exacerbated the space’s inherent coldness, preventing the realization of the intended relaxed, rustic design atmosphere.

To address these challenges, we developed a comprehensive, integrated custom procurement solution centered on the natural essence of the Italian countryside aesthetic. We conducted precise surveys of the high-ceilinged space to optimize furniture dimensions and profiles, thereby filling the visual void and mitigating the sense of emptiness. We delineated distinct, intimate dining zones to soften the building’s cavernous feel. We carefully selected natural solid wood, woven rattan, and warm-toned upholstery fabrics as base materials, applying specialized surface treatments to ensure resistance against moisture, stains, and daily wear and tear. We conducted rigorous structural stability and load-bearing tests to guarantee durability. We unified the material textures and earth-tone color palette across the entire venue, while simultaneously ensuring the ergonomic comfort required for both large group gatherings and solo dining. We managed the entire end-to-end process—from raw material sourcing and custom manufacturing to cross-border logistics and precise on-site placement and installation—ensuring that the furniture blended seamlessly with the woven rattan ceiling features and the glass-centric architectural shell. Upon the completion of the furniture installation, the once-empty commercial space was imbued with a warm, rustic ambiance; the spatial zoning became clear and the circulation flow fluid. The durable craftsmanship is perfectly suited to the venue’s high-frequency, all-day operational demands, while daily cleaning and maintenance remain effortless, and the authentic textures of the natural materials faithfully realize the original design intent.
