Case description
Drawing upon a deep understanding of the standards for high-end residential living in Wenzhou, we delivered a comprehensive, fully integrated custom solution for the large-scale villa project at Wenzhou Vanke Emerald World. This solution encompassed core furniture pieces, bespoke lighting fixtures, sleep systems, handcrafted rugs, as well as wall art and decorative accessories.
As a benchmark villa development situated in the heart of the city, Emerald World features an architectural structure characterized by expansive, column-free spans and panoramic floor-to-ceiling glass facades. The client’s primary challenge lay in the interior’s exceptionally high levels of natural illumination; this intense brightness caused furniture surfaces to generate severe diffuse glare, significantly compromising the residents’ visual and auditory experience. Furthermore, while the spatial scale was grand, the structural corners were starkly angular and rigid, resulting in a living environment that lacked the desired sense of enclosure and human warmth. The homeowner urgently sought to utilize a comprehensive soft-furnishing strategy to reshape the space’s acoustic environment and soften its interplay of light and shadow—all without obstructing the stunning core views.
We implemented a specialized strategy focused on “light and shadow dissolution” and “material-based acoustic dampening.” To address the high-illumination environment, we eschewed conventional paint finishes on all furniture surfaces in favor of high-fidelity, light-absorbing coatings; when paired with micron-level brushed metal accents, this approach reduced environmental glare by over 60%. To mitigate the space’s inherent rigidity, we commissioned custom rugs featuring irregular geometric patterns and low-saturation pile textures designed to deeply absorb interior echoes. Additionally, our lighting layout incorporated a concealed linear light-control system, ensuring that—after reflecting off the textured surfaces of the furniture—the light cast a soft, velvety glow. The selection of wall art and decorative accessories focused primarily on organic, curvilinear forms, utilizing the raw, tactile qualities of natural stone and handcrafted ceramics to provide a counterpoint to the mechanical coldness of the architectural lines.
Feedback from the homeowner at Wenzhou Vanke Emerald World highlights the success of this comprehensive custom solution: “This project successfully ‘tamed’ the light; the area around the floor-to-ceiling windows—once uncomfortably glaring—has now transformed into our most comfortable reading nook.” They noted that the scale of the furniture and decor was calibrated with exceptional precision, endowing the voluminous space with a sense of intimate approachability, while the improvements to the acoustic environment have made communication within the home feel both tranquil and profound. In summary, we delivered to Emerald World a paradigm of ultra-luxury living—one that harmonizes urban rationality with domestic warmth—achieved through the precise intervention in the physical properties of light and shadow, as well as the emotional resonance of the space.
